How to Deal with Quiet, Smart People

Yes, they are generally a pain
In the neck, butt, head,
Or whatever body parts you want
Them to be a pain of.

They tend to be perfectionists
Quietly scary, quietly judging,
Very idealistic, and most likely
Not understanding of your humor.

If they do have humor,
Be prepared to not understand it.
But they will think it funny
Not understanding why you don't.

They will not talk to you
Unless you talk to them first.
Brave it, despite their "killer look"
They're usually more shy than you.

Smart they might be, but low on EQ,
Awkward, that's what they are.
Out of place most of the time.
Thinking about this and that.

Mostly, they talk straight, rough.
Without tact, or even brutal sometimes.
They observe a lot, and when
You ask them, prepare your heart.

Do not be offended by them,
Drop that pride, and treat them like
Your annoying, sometimes favorite god-child.
Paste your smile, shake your head.

They can be your loyal confidante
If you know how to touch their heart.
They might show it, or maybe not.
But if they like you, good for you!

Do not make them your enemy.
They might retaliate in a way you
Don't expect it; or even when.
They know the saying, "Best serve when cold."

If you get close to them,
Expect a variety of personalities.
They're not crazy (maybe)
Just a lot, lot, lot different.

But the truth is, they are
Really kids at heart.
That quiet kid waiting for friends,
And a hug from a teddy bear.

So like them or hate them,
It's your choice, at your own risk.
But know that they are not machines,
Just strange strangers in a stranger world.
