Black and White
M:
Should I stay? Or should I go?
You pull me closer; you push me away.
I never did understand why we worry too much
About what the public would say.
Let me just hold you tight,
And they will go away.
W:
Should I keep you with me?
Or should I set you free?
It hurts when we're apart, but
It hurts when we are together.
They try to tear us apart,
Yet we try to hold on--hold on.
M:
Do not push me away, my love.
Let go of the worries, and pretend
We are in our own world, where nothing
Nothing is amiss. We are safe.
Let's follow the moonlight,
And let the rest slide in darkness.
W:
I keep holding your hand
But I fear I am holding you back.
Your heart is with me, but I feel
That isn't enough, for you-- for me.
Should we abandon our dreams
So we could be together like this?
M:
If I have you, you have me
Why does it matter? It's you and me.
Let us run away, make it to the sky
Do not look back, and make new dreams.
Let us shed the burden of them,
And fly into the wind!
W:
What of your songs? What of your life?
These things you've cherished for so long.
Should we cast shadows on them?
What of my passion? What of my works?
These things you've loved in me.
Should we cast them aside, abandoned?
M;
What of our love? Should we live as they dictate?
Leave each other, tear each other's heart
So they will be content and love me again?
Should I let you go to protect you from them?
When I can protect you, as I keep you
In my tight embrace. Never leave!
W:
You have taken my words away!
How can you sway me like this?
I can almost hear each angry rhetoric
Blaming you, blaming me, a bubble of blames.
Still I want to keep you closer, move closer
Let me love you without border.
M:
Isn't this what I promised? That day long ago.
They may cast me away, but I will still choose you.
I wasn't like this when I met you,
But you made me stronger, bolder.
It was your words--did you forget?
They made me this man who loves you so.
W: I was a woman who didn't know how to love.
M: I was a man who didn't know your kind of love.
W: I was a woman of logic--
M: I was a man of childish romance--
W: Yet you swept me away and made me love you.
M: Yet you broke me and made me love you true.
