Remind Me Once Again

If I forget in twenty years
The way you looked when you
Were twenty-seven, your eyes
Full of life and wonderings
Remind me once again.

If I forget, the way you walked
The way you talked, the way you laughed
At my silly jokes and lame pranks;
How your face light up when you smile--
Remind me once again.

If I forget the way you danced
And sang off-key with my guitar,
The camping songs we did at night
And the way you tripped on my thigh,
Remind me once again.

If I forget to bring you flowers
That you've always loved on your
Special day--our day, honey,
Take out the bat and beat me.
Remind me once again.

If I forget how much we loved
When we were weak and crying,
That day we lost a lot, and couldn't stand
When dreams were broken in a flash,
Remind me once again.

If I forget the way we waited
You for me, as I sailed the silver ocean.
Me for you, as you made a name in writing.
The patience while longing--
Remind me once again.

If I forget how much we suffered,
But stood together even when we were oceans apart;
We became each other's strength
Our voices bridging the gap.
Remind me once again.

If I forget how much I love you,
And my heart gets tricked by a wink,
A come-hither and a smokey voice.
Honey, bring out the shotgun and
Remind me once again.

If I forget how strong your love is
Through the storms we faced
The history written forever in our hearts.
Do not burn the food, just kick me and
Remind me once again.

If I forget to say 'I love you'
Each morning, whether together or apart;
Tell me you love me and make me feel bad
That I won't repeat the faux-pas.
Remind me once again.

If one day, when our bones are bad,
The weather is cold, and I can't hold your hand,
Even when my voice is harsh, and
Your eyes could barely see me.
Honey, remember the love we have.
