A Little Nip Here and There

It stung a great deal
When your words whipped
Around me
As you yelled
Of my
Incompetence
Inabilities
Imperfections
As if they were a disease.
And then you laughed.
You laughed!
You impeccable bastard.
Pulled me to your side
And embraced me
While filled with mirth
At my expense
Yet again.

Can’t You See?

Ah, can’t you see, can’t you see?
Can’t you even hear
The slide of these walls
—sliding into place. Locked.
You’ve missed your chance, laddie.
When you’ve refused to
Listen to the pitter patter of the can.
Ah, but can’t you see,
How many openings

But of silence’s sound
You’re not aware.
The noise of silent wretch,
Of endless wanderings
Of endless arguments
You’ve never heard

Ah! Love--You Came!

Ah! Love.
It made me forget my alliances
My promise to my family
That I'll never leave them
That I'll be but a stone throw away
My promise to my Self
That I'll have a good life
That I'll live quietly and honorably
A little boring perhaps
In need of a little excitement
Decidedly repetitive
